Is $100,000 a good salary in Calgary?

City North America Updated July 2026

CAD 100,000 a year is a strong salary in Calgary, comfortably above the moderate single-person benchmark of $2,750/month ($3,700 CAD) and into discretionary territory. Take-home after federal and Alberta income tax plus CPP and EI lands around CAD 71,000 to 73,000, or roughly CAD 5,950 a month. That comfortably supports a downtown or inner-city one-bedroom (CAD 1,500 to 2,200), a vehicle if wanted, regular dining out, and meaningful savings or RRSP contributions. A couple where one earner makes CAD 100K can manage a single-income household at moderate standard. On a household basis CAD 100K combined is closer to median and looks less comfortable. CAD 100K stretches further in Calgary than in Toronto (CAD 100K take-home is similar but housing eats CAD 6,000 to 8,000 more a year). For the full breakdown, see our Calgary cost of living page.
