What salary do you need to live in Monaco?

Country Europe Updated July 2026

There is no minimum salary requirement for Monaco residency, since the residency bar is wealth (a bank deposit) rather than income. Salaried residents typically work in finance, yachting, hospitality, real estate, or family-office roles; common ranges for senior professional roles run €100,000 to €300,000+ a year gross. Monaco does not levy personal income tax on residents (with the notable exception of French citizens, who remain subject to French income tax under the 1963 Franco-Monégasque convention), so headline salaries translate close to fully to take-home for US, UK, and other non-French residents. US citizens remain subject to US federal tax on worldwide income regardless. To support comfortable in-principality living (€6,000 to €10,000 a month for a single adult), pre-tax income of roughly €100,000+ is the practical floor for an open-market lifestyle.
